There are no formal requirements for this course or certification.

Each delegate will be issued with a workbook to assist them both during and after this IOSH training course which will contain information, guidance and forms to assist managers.

IOSH Working Safely covers the following topics:

Module# 1:  Introduction to working safely

  • This includes all primary safety issues in the workplace & Stresses the human suffering behind the statistics and emphasises the importance of personal responsibility.

Module# 2:  Defining hazard and risks

  • This subject makes it clear that even established routines can present risks and serious consequences & Puts ‘hazard’ and ‘risk’ into everyday language – makes clear that even something that is very simple or repeated over and over again can go wrong. Asked to think about their hazards and risks they come across in their own work and realise that they make informal Risk Assessments on a daily basis.

Module# 3:  Identification of common hazards

  • This includes all Main issues covered in this module: entrances and exits, work traffic, fire, chemicals, electricity, physical and verbal abuse, bullying, stress, noise and the working environment, slips, trips and falls, and manual handling.

Module# 4:  Improving Safety Performance

  • This includes understanding how systems and processes can be put in place to improve safety performance and how these relate to all levels of the workforce & Making sure that any jargon is easily understood. Bridges the jap between management and the workforce so that everyone plays a part in improving health and safety. Covers also: contract work, inspections, safe systems and permits; protective equipment, signage, emergency procedures, reporting and health checks.

Module# 5:  Protecting our environment

  • Sheds light on aspects of work operations that affect the environment and teaches how to reduce or completely eliminate negative effects & A short but effective introduction to waste and pollution.

This course includes 6 hours of tuition within the day including assessments.

  • Identifying common hazards, how these arise and how to prevent them
  • Improving safety performance, understanding safe systems of work, using PPE, recognising safety signs, emergency procedures, first aid and basic measuring and reporting of incidents
  • Protecting your environment, understanding what impact your industry has and what you can do as an individual and organisation to reduce pollution and waste.
